SPARK TESTER device
The SPARK TESTER device is used for checking the condition of caps made in thermoplastic material.
The system allows the caps with defects that cannot be seen well to be identified with an optic control system, such
as cameras.
The typical defects that can be identified are those present in the material that forms the caps. These defects are
therefore relative to the quality of the material and/or process used for molding the caps.
Thus, these defects regard the cap "walls", intended as the bottom of the side wall (circular side).
The main defects that can be identified are:
- Pin Hole or micro-hole
- wall contamination caused by small metal pieces that are visible (a few tenths of a mm)
- breakage and/or cracks in parts of the cap
Other defects that can theoretically be identified are:
- Reduced wall thickness. At the moment, this only refers to the bottom and is only relative to a slight thickness
variation to be determined with tests. It is probably no lower than about 0.5 mm.
- Other damage to the walls that can be described as cold fittings. A check is necessary in this case as well.
