APPENDIX C INTERFACE SPECIFICATIONS

C.1 Introduction

The sonar processor rear panel is the connection point for the data
communication interface. There are two primary means of communicating with
the sonar processor. The first is via the Network port used for transmitting
bathymetric or sidescan data to the Data Acquisition System. The second is via
the serial ports that are assigned different tasks and data. This section will cover
six of the rear panel ports. The network interface can only use one port at a time.

1. RS-232 Serial Port 1

– IN: Time Stamp, OUT: Bathy Data

2. RS-232 Serial Port 2

– IN: Command Messages, OUT: Command
