3.3.1 Safe Handling
To ensure safe handling of the equipment:
Inspect each transit case or shipping box for physical damage prior to
opening, and each component for physical damage before installation.
Use original shipping boxes to provide adequate packaging and shock
absorption when shipping or storing the equipment.
Do not drop the equipment.
Do not connect or disconnect cables at the rear of the processor or from
the sonar head while the processor is running. This can damage internal
workings.
Do not bend cables beyond the recommended limits.
Do not place the sonar array in an area where the face may be scratched
or damaged. If an array must be placed on the ground, it should be
placed on a flat surface and covered with a protective plastic sheet.
Do not place liquids on or near the equipment.
Do not smoke or spill ashes on or near the pointer device.
Ensure that the equipment is properly secured before putting out to sea.
While operating in air,
set your
SeaBat™ system to the lowest possible
setting. A higher setting may damage the transmit array ceramics.
Do not exceed operating and storage temperature limits.
CAUTION
Do not operate transmitters in air except during system
checks for short durations.
3.3.2 Cleaning and Maintenance of Projector and Receiver Arrays
The acoustic window molded over the front of the projector and receiver arrays is
made of high-density polyurethane. A long range of chemicals will destroy the
polyurethane, which include, but are not limited to:
