Please note that some movie as p ect r atios a r e
wide r than 16:9, so even though you have a
widesc r een TV, these discs will still p lay in a
‘lette r box’ style with black ba r s at the to p and
bottom of the sc r een.
Standard TV users
If you have a standa r d TV, the TV Screen
setting ( p age 53) of this p laye r should be set to
4:3 (Letter Box)
o r
4:3 (Pan & Scan)
,
de p ending on which you pr efe r .
Please note that many widesc r een discs
ove rr ide the p laye r ’s setting so that the disc is
shown in lette r box fo r mat r ega r dless of the
setting.
Using your own speaker cables
When connecting the s p eake r s, you can
p u r chase and use you r own s p eake r cables if
desi r ed, in p lace of those fu r nished. In this
case, p e r fo r m the following pr ocedu r es to
attach the s p eake r cable ada p to r to you r own
cables:

• While holding down the two buttons on
the adaptor, insert the wire ends of your own
cable into the adaptor.
• White, Red, Blue, G r ay and Pu rp le s p eake r
cable ada p to r s a r e pr ovided as
accesso r ies. Use these to attach you r own
cables fo r the f r ont left/ r ight s p eake r s,
su rr ound left/ r ight s p eake r s and
subwoofe r .
• Use the su pp lied Y- cable fo r cente r
s p eake r s connections.
• Confi r m the +/– p ola r ities of the two wi r es
and the co rr es p onding ma r kings on the
ada p to r , and be su r e to inse r t the pr o p e r
wi r e co r e into the pr o p e r side.
• Afte r inse r ting the wi r e co r es,
p ull gently
on the cable to confi r m that the wi r es do
not sli p out.
• Be ca r eful to pr event the co r es of the two
wi r es f r om touching each othe r , since a
sho r t ci r cuit will r esult.
