Listening in stereo
You can listen to any sou r ce — ste r eo o r
multichannel — in ste r eo. When p laying a
multichannel sou r ce, all channels a r e
downmixed to the f r ont left/ r ight s p eake r s and
the subwoofe r .
In the Auto level cont r ol ste r eo mode (A.L.C.),
this unit equalizes p layback sound levels if
each sound level va r ies with the music sou r ce
r eco r ded in a p o r table audio p laye r .
• Press repeatedly to select Stereo or
A.L.C. mode.

Stereo

and o r dina r y ste r eo sound will be
pr oduced.
• A.L.C. – Listening in Auto level cont r ol
ste r eo mode. The STEREO and ALC
indicato r s will light.
Listening with headphones
When head p hones a r e connected, only the
Stereo

A.L.C.

PhonesSurround
modes
a r e available.
• With headphones connected, press
SURROUND to select Stereo or A.L.C., or
press ADV SURR to select PhonesSurround.

Using the Sound Retriever
When audio data is r emoved du r ing the MP3 o r
WMA com pr ession pr ocess, sound quality
often suffe r s f r om an uneven sound image. The
Sound Ret r ieve r featu r e em p loys new DSP
technology that hel p s b r ing CD quality sound
back to com pr essed two channel audio by
r esto r ing sound pr essu r e and smoothing
jagged a r tifacts left ove r afte r com pr ession.
• Press while listening to a stereo
source.

P r ess r e p eatedly to switch between:

Retriever On
— Switches the Sound
Ret r ieve r on. The
S.RTRV
indicato r lights.

Retriever Off
— Switches the Sound
Ret r ieve r off.
Listening with Acoustic
Calibration EQ
You can listen to sou r ces using the Acoustic
Calib r ation Equalization set in
Using the Auto
MCACC setup for optimal surround sound
on
p age 22.

1 Press to open the sound menu.
2 Select ‘MCACC EQ’ then press
ENTER.
3 Switch ‘EQ On’ or ‘EQ Off’ then
press ENTER to confirm.
• The MCACC indicato r lights when Acoustic
Calib r ation EQ is active.
• On the
EQ Off
setting, equalization is set to
off and s p eake r settings (channel delay
and channel level) r emains as it is set.
•
EQ On
is selected automatically afte r the
Auto MCACC setu p is com p leted.
