Editing Using the Discnavi
Erasing a part from the Original or
Playlist
Using this function, you can erase a part of a title
currently in the Original content or the Playlist.

Erase Part
When you erase a part from the playlist, nothing is
actually erased from the disc. When you erase a part
from the original, that part of the title is deleted from
the disc—if it was also in the Playlist, it is also erased
from there. When you erase a part longer than about
one minute (the actual length depends on the
recording rate) from the Original, the available
recording time increases. Parts shorter than this don’t
get added to the available recording time.

Select ‘Erase Part’ from the Original or
Playlist Discnavi menu.

2Define the start point of the part to erase.
Use the
PLAY

buttons
and the
Jog dial
(for slow and fast scanning and frame
advance) to find the place you want. Press
ENTER
to
mark the scene start.

Define the end point of the part.
Do this in the same way as the start point. Press
ENTER
to mark the end point.
• You can go back and forth between the start point
and the end point to fine-tune as necessary.
• You may not be able to erase parts from the
Original which are less than 5 seconds long.

To preview the part, select ‘Preview’
The part plays in the part end window. If
necessary, go back and change the start or end
point.
• The preview starts 3 seconds before the part start
point and ends 3 seconds after the part end point.

When you’re done, select ‘OK’ to erase the
part.
• A chapter marker is automatically inserted at the
cut point.

Press DISCNAVI to exit, or RETURN to go
back to the main Playlist screen.
