6 Timer Recording
Canceling a timer recording
You can clear a timer setting anytime before the
recording actually starts.
1 Press SETUP to display the Setup menu.
• If disc timer recording is active, the top menu item
will be Disc Timer Rec .
2Select ‘Timer Rec’ (or ‘Disc Timer Rec’ if disc
timer recording is active).
3 With the program timer number highlighted,
press CLEAR.
The timer information is cleared.
• When the recorder is in standby with the timer
recording indicator lit, you can cancel the recording
by switching on the recorder then following the
above steps.
• About 2 minutes before a timer program starts, the
recorder automatically switches on to prepare for
recording. During this time you can cancel the
program by pressing
STANDBY/ON .
Stopping a timer recording in progress
After a timer recording has started, you can still cancel
the program.
1 Press and hold

REC for 3 seconds.
Only the program is canceled (the timer indicator
disappears); recording continues.
2If you want to stop recording completely,
press

STOP.
Extending a timer recording in
progress
If you want to adjust the stop time of a timer recording
after it’s started:
1 Press and hold
¶
REC for 3 seconds.
2Press
¶
REC repeatedly to extend the
recording time in 30 minute steps.
You can extend the recording time for up to 6 hours.
Timer recording
troubleshooting
Even though the timer is set, the recorder will
not record when:
• There is no disc loaded
• A non-recordable disc is loaded
• The disc that’s loaded is protected (see
page 73 )
• There are already 99 titles recorded on the disc
You cannot enter a timer program when:
• A recording is already underway
• The clock isn’t set
• The time you’re trying to set has already passed
• There are already 8 timer programs set
If two or more timer programs overlap:
• The earlier program takes priority
• When the earlier timer program finishes, the later
program starts (about 30 seconds later)
• If two programs are set to start at exactly the same
time, the program entered first takes priority
Confirmation is not possible when:
• There is no disc loaded
• A non-recordable disc is loaded
• The disc that’s loaded is protected (see
page 73 )
• There are already 99 titles recorded on the disc
If the disc is damaged, the recording may not complete
successfully. In this case even though the Confirm field
says
Rec OK , it may not be.
