"Hide SSID" (only when operating as an access point)
Each cell in a wireless network is represented by a network name (SSID - Service Set
Identifier). If the field is not activated, the device (as an access point) cyclically transmits its
network name (beacon). It therefore informs clients that the device is available as an access
point.
If the field is activated, only clients whose network name is recognized can establish a
connection. To increase security it is recommended that the field is activated once the
network has been set up.
"Network name (SSID)"
Enter the name of your network here. It is recommended that you do not use names that can
be traced back to your company, departments or the type of data being transmitted. All
clients that want to establish a connection with this access point must recognize this
network name.
The "Network name (SSID)" is the name of this wireless network. The default setting is
"PxC". The SSID can be a maximum of 32 characters long.
"WLAN mode"
Select the wireless standard here. It is recommended that you select "802.11b/g" or
"802.11a" so as to achieve the maximum possible data throughput. In very unfavorable
environmental conditions, it is advisable to select "802.11b only" mode as this mode is more
stable with regard to interference.
"Regulatory domain"
Select the country in which the device is operated. Only then is it possible to ensure that the
various national regulations of the individual countries are observed.
"Channel"
A transmission channel can be set for the device in "802.11b/g" mode or the transmission
channel can be selected automatically. It is recommended that automatic channel selection
is activated. Only then, in the event of interference on this channel, can the device
automatically switch to another interference-free channel.
"Transmit rate"
A transmission speed can be set for the device or the transmission speed can be selected
automatically. It is recommended that automatic selection of the transmission speed is
activated. If a fixed data rate is specified, this transmission speed cannot be reduced in the
event of a weak signal in order to maintain the connection. As a result, the radio link at the
selected transmission speed is interrupted even though it could have been maintained at a
lower data rate.
The SSID can be a maximum of 32 characters long. Valid characters are: a - z, A - Z, 0 - 9
and the following special characters: _ - ? $ @ ! { } [ ] ( ) + # ; , < > | / : * ~ % & =
Incorrect settings for the installation location can result in illegal wireless settings, which
can be construed as an offense by the relevant authorities.
If other WLANs are operated in parallel, manual radio field planning is required to avoid
restrictions in radio communication. In this case, set the channel to be used manually.
