Creating Soft Points for Locating

 

Overview 

After building is laid out with repeaters staggered for locating, soft points must be established to 
differentiate between apartments using signal strength. To do this each room will need to be 

“

Fingerprinted

”

. How each apartment is fingerprinted depends on size of the apartment.  

PalatiumCare recommends that all furniture and wireless networks be installed prior to starting 
the fingerprinting process. 

 

Creating Soft Points 

 

In order to define soft points, every apartment and common area will need to be added to the 

system’s Locations tab.

  Soft points will need to be defined for each room that the dealer would 

like devices to locate to.  A Resident Pendant (EN1223S) is required to define soft points as well 
as a PC that has a connection to the PalatiumCare server.

Wizard

Click on 

Update Soft Points

 Button.

Click on 

Ready

 Button. 

5.

 

Press

 Pendant button. 

6.

 

Click on 

Select

 Button. 

7.

 

Select the Location you are adding 

Soft Points

 to. 

8.

 

Click on 

Continue

 Button. 

9.

 

Physically stand in one of the designated Button Press Locations and Depress 
Pendant Button. 

10.

 

Move to next designated location and Press Pendant Button. 

11.

 

Repeat until all Designated Directional Button Press Locations have been defined. 

12.

 

Click on 

Save

 Button. 

13.

 

Select Next 

Location

 to define soft points in. 

14.

 

Repeat Steps 8 through 13 until all locations have soft points defined. 

 

NOTE:

 When using new EN1221 Water Proof Pendants to create soft points a limit of 

200 button presses per pendant must be followed. New pendants must have battery 
installed for a minimum of 12 hours prior to soft pointing. After a maximum of 200 
button presses the pendant must be set aside for a 12 hour period prior to being used 
again. Failure to do so will result in weak or faulty signal strength and will directly affect 
the accuracy of advanced locating.
