Find out a piece of clean and smooth surface in the area
without crack on structural member (use grinding wheel
to rub down if necessary), draw an oblique test line
forming certain angle to reinforcement bar, then draw 3
to 6 test points (
at least 3 points, otherwise calculation
is impossible
) as shown at the left side in Figure F1.17,
the spacing between Test point 1 and 2 is 100mm, other
test points spacing is 50mm.

Find out the widest position on the crack to be tested, draw
a test line forming certain angle to reinforcement bar at
the direction of the widest crack to be tested,
symmetrically draw 3 to 5 test points at both sides of
crack as shown at the right side in Figure F1.17, the
spacing of the first pair of test points is 100mm, the
second pair is 150mm, the third pair is 200mm, and so
on.
