Installation and Reference for the BayStack 820 ISDN Router

This password is the same one you use to connect to the BayStack 820 ISDN
Router Manager through a Web browser. The password you enter is echoed as
asterisks (*). If the password string is validated, the CLI command prompt is
displayed, and you can begin issuing commands. Otherwise, the password
prompt is redisplayed.

General Guidelines

Many commands are single-line commands are not context-sensitive. Each
command is independent of other commands before or after it. Exceptions to the
single line mode are indicated in this chapter by the prefix “

+

”. These commands

invoke an interactive user dialog. You do not enter the prefix when you enter the
command.

Following are some general guidelines for using the CLI commands.

•

You can type a “ ?” (preceded by a space) to request help for the command. If
the command requires a keyword, all valid keywords are displayed and then
the command typed so far is re-displayed.

•

Type [Ctrl] + P to repeat the previous command (if one was issued) or
[Ctrl] + N to display the next command (if one was issued). When you display
a command, you can either enter a carriage return to accept the command or
enter backspaces to edit the command from the end. You can issue up to 15
previously entered commands in this manner.

•

If you previously typed part of the keyword but did not finish it, and if the
characters typed so far uniquely identify the keyword, enter a tab or a space,
and the system completes the keyword automatically.

•

If you enter an interactive mode (commands are indicated with a “+”), the
system prompts you for each parameter required, for example:

In this example, the first prompt indicates that there are two choices
(Yes and No), and No is the default. The second prompt indicates that a
number between 0 and 999 is expected, and 60 is the default.
