Configuring Remote Office Access

Set as IP Default
Route

Select whether to set this connection profile as the IP default route. When you set
this profile as the IP default route, users on your local LAN obtain their Internet
access through a connection to the remote LAN.
NOTE: If you allow Internet access in this manner, make sure you have not
configured any Internet access connection profiles.

Remote IP Address

Enter the IP address of a destination workstation on a network reachable through
this connection profile.
This field is displayed when you set IP Default Route to No.

Remote IP Netmask

Enter the IP subnet mask of the remote IP address.
This field is displayed when you set IP Default Route to No.

Enable IPX

Select whether to enable IPX routing over a connection using this profile.

When you

enable IPX routing, the router routes IPX data packets to the appropriate server or
host according to entries in the IPX routing table.
This field is displayed when you select Share NetWare (IPX) Resource in the
BayStack 820 ISDN Router Manager customization dialog box.

IPX RIP/SAP

Select whether to enable IPX Routing Information Protocol (RIP) and Service
Advertising Protocol (SAP). When you enable IPX RIP/SAP, the router receives RIP
and SAP broadcast data from other routers, and broadcasts the routing table and
routing table updates as necessary.
This field is displayed when you set Enable IPX to Yes.

Set as IPX Default
Route

Select whether to set this connection profile as the IPX default route. When you
enable this profile as the IPX default route, the router uses this connection if no
other route for an IPX packet is found in the routing table.
This field is displayed when you select Share NetWare (IPX) Resource in the
BayStack 820 ISDN Router Manager customization dialog box.

Remote IPX Network
Number

Enter the IPX network number of a network reachable through this connection. If
you enabled IPX as the default route for this connection, an entry in this field is not
required.
This field is displayed when you set IPX Default Route to No.

Enable Bridging

Select whether to enable bridging to non-IP or non-IPX protocols, for example,
SNA, Appletalk, and NetBEUI. You may also need to enable bridging if the remote
connection supports only bridging.
NOTE: If you enabled IP routing or IPX routing, routing takes precedence. For
example, if you enabled both bridging and IP routing, IP data is routed, and all
non-IP data is bridged.
