Connecting to the Router Through the Console Port
You also use the CLI when you use the console port on the BayStack 820 ISDN
Router to connect to a workstation running terminal emulation software. A null
modem cable that you can use to connect a workstation (usually the COM2 port)
to the router’s console port was shipped with the BayStack 820 ISDN Router.
To connect to the router through the console port:
1.
Use the included null modem cable to connect a workstation to the
router’s DB-9 console port
(Figure 10-2)
.

2.
Connect to the CLI using terminal emulation software, such as AniTa.
3.
Set the console speed to a baud rate of 19200 b/s, eight data bits, no
parity, one stop bit (19200, 8, N, 1,) and disable hardware flow control.
If the Telnet application does not allow you to set flow control options, set it
in the Device Manager area of the Windows System settings (accessible from
the Control Panel). After configuring these settings, some applications require
that you close and then restart the session.
4.
After you connect, press [Enter] to enter a carriage return and start the
Telnet session.
The Telnet dialog box opens and the following prompt is displayed:
BayStack 820 Manager Console Version: <rev. number, build date and time>
Please enter your password:
5.
Enter the password you use to connect to the router and then press
[Enter].
