Rear Axle and Tandems

Brake Pedal

The brake pedal has several adjustments. The brake 
pedal stop, the gap between the floor and pivot weld-
ment, and the pedal height. The brake pedal stop 
should be adjusted before pedal height.

Pedal Stop

Pull the brake pedal up against the stop. Push the brake 
pedal down until the plunger contacts the piston. The 
brake pedal should move 1/4-1/2 in. (6.35-12.7 mm). If 
not, adjust the pedal stop screw and linkage. The pedal 
height will also need adjustment.

Step 1: 

Remove bottom cover from under

grader.

Step 2: 

Loosen jam nut, 1, on set screw, 2. Turn set 

screw to provide proper clearance between plunger and 
brake piston.

Step 3: 

Tighten jam nut.

Pivot Gap

When the pedal stop is adjusted, the pivot weldment gap 
should be checked.

Step 1: 

Remove lower front console cover by removing 

bolts.

Step 2: 

Remove two screws securing boot. Slide boot up 

linkage.

Step 3: 

Measure gap between lever and bottom of floor. 

Gap should be 0.0625-0.125 in. (1.5-3.0 mm).
