Front Axle

Service 1.00_2006.03

Step 10:

Start wheel lean pivot pin, 3, into axle wheel lean pivot pin bore, with set screw, 5, hole in steering

knuckle in line with set screw hole in pivot pin. Align steering knuckle pivot pin bore with axle pivot pin bore,
and drive pivot pin through both bores with rubber mallet, making certain that set screw holes align.

Step 11:

Install set screw, 5, with jam nut, through set screw holes in steering knuckle and pivot pin, 3.

Torque set screw to 51.5 +/- 2.7 Nm (38 +/- 2 Ib-ft). Snug jam nut tight against steering knuckle.

Step 12:

Install seals. 6, by hand on each end of spindle, 7. Place thrust washer, 8 (yellow side up), inside

recession on top of spindle, then place flat washer, 9, on top of thrust washer.

Step 13:

Position spindle, 7, in steering knuckle with king pin holes aligned, taking care to keep washers, 8,

9, on top of spindle.

Step 14:

Start king pin into steering knuckle with set screw, 10, hole in king pin in line with set screw hole in

spindle, 7. Use a rubber mallet, if necessary, to drive king pin through knuckle and spindle, making certain
that set screw holes align.

Step 15:

Install set screw, 10, with jam nut, through set screw holes in spindle, 7, and king pin. Torque set

screw to 51.5 +/- 2.7 Nm (38 +/- 2 Ib-ft). Snug jam nut tight against spindle.

Step 16:

Install new o-ring, 11, into top of steering knuckle (end with wheel lean bar attachment). Place

plug, 12, over o-ring, with chamfer side down. Install plug, 13, next, and torque to 46 +/- 1.3 Nm
(34 +/-1 Ib-ft).

Step 17:

Install lube fitting, 14, into top of plug, 13, and torque to 16.3 +/- 2.7 Nm (12 +/- 2 Ib-ft).

Step 18:

Install new o-ring, 15, into bottom of steering knuckle (end without wheel lean bar attachment).

Place plug, 16, over o-ring with chamfer down. Install plug, 17, and hand tighten.

Step 19:

Install new o-ring, 18, into LH front of wheel lean pivot pin bore. Install plug, 19 with chamfer toward

o-ring, 18.

Step 20:

Install plug, 20, and torque to 46 +/-1.3 Nm (34 +/-1 Ib-ft). Install lube fitting, 21, and torque to

16.3 +/- 2.7 Nm (12 +/- 2 Ib-ft).
