Upgrading Your Server 9-17
Removal
Remove the DIMM in the following procedure.
NOTE:
To remove the failed DIMM, check the error message
appearing on POST to identify the DIMM socket in which the failed
DIMM is installed.
1.
See the section "Preparing for Installation and Removal" described earlier to prepare.
2.
Pull out the server from the rack.
3.
Remove the top cover.
4.
Open the levers at each end of the socket from which you remove the DIMM.
The lock is released to allow the DIMM to be removed.
5.
Install the components you removed in Steps 1 to 3.
6.
Power on the server and verify that POST displays no error messages.
If POST displays an error message, take a note on the message and contact your service
representative.
7.
Run BIOS SETUP utility and select [Advanced]
→
[Memory Configuration] to verify that
the capacity shown in [Installed memory] is equivalent to that of installed DIMM. (See
Chapter 4 or details.)
