Step 4B: Manual Setup 

Follow the procedures below to create “OEM-Disk” before starting the OS install. 

 

Preparing to Install 

Windows Server 2008 

You do not need to create an OEM-Disk for Windows Server 2008. 
 

Windows Server 2003   

You can create a Windows Server 2003 OEM-Disk for NEC EXPRESSBUILDER by following two 
procedures. 
 

Create from NEC EXPRESSBUILDER 
 

Select this procedure when the NEC Express5800 series is the only computer for creating Windows 
Server 2003 OEM-Disk for NEC EXPRESSBUILDER. If Windows 2000 and Internet Explorer 6.0, 
Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 operates on the 
NEC Express5800, you can also select [Create from the menu start by auto-run] described later. 
 
The procedure is as follows: 
 

1. 

Prepare one 3.5-inch floppy disk. 

2. 

Power on the NEC Express5800 series server. 

3. 

Insert the “NEC EXPRESSBUILDER” DVD into the optical disc drive. 

4. 

Reset (Press <Ctrl> + <Alt> +<Del>) or power off to reboot the Express5800 series.   
System launches from the DVD, and NEC EXPRESSBUILDER starts. 

5. 

Select [Create the OEM-Disk for Windows] from the [Step 1, Top menu], then click [Next]. 

6. 

Insert a floppy disk into the floppy disk drive. 

7. 

Select [Create Windows Server 2003 OEM-Disk for EXPRESSBUILDER] from the [Create 
Windows OEM-Disk], then click [Perform]. 
 
Follow the instruction on the screen and set the floppy disk into the floppy disk drive. 
[Windows Server 2003 OEM-Disk for EXPRESSBUILDER] is created. 
 
Protect the disk from overwrite and label as [Windows Server 2003 OEM-Disk for 
EXPRESSBUILDER]. Store this OEM disk in a safe place. 

 

Create from the menu start by auto run 

 
Menu starts automatically by the auto run function when you load the DVD into an optical disc 
drive that is mounted on a computer running an operating system Windows 2000 + Internet Explorer 
6.0, Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008. From this 
menu, you can create [Windows Server 2003 OEM-Disk for EXPRESSBUILDER] is created. 
(Including Express the NEC 5800 series)
