Problem
Possible Causes
What To Do
Printer Does Not
Function When
Turned On
Printer not plugged in.
Confirm that printer cables are properly connected on both
ends. Make sure the ground wire is properly connected. See
“Connecting the Cables” in chapter 2.
Confirm that the host or power supply is getting power.
Front cover not fully
closed.
Close and latch the front cover.
Carriage is jammed.
Clear any paper jams.
Turn off the power.
With the feed rolls down, manually move the carriage; it
should move freely.
Cables within the printer
are improperly connected
to the PC board.
Make sure the cables in the printer are properly connected
to the PC board. See the section in chapter 8 that applies to
this unit’s PC board.
ROM improperly
positioned.
Confirm that the ROM is properly positioned.
DIP switches not in the
proper position.
Check the DIP switch settings. See Appendix B for the
settings.
Improper power ground
or voltage supply.
Make sure the power grounds are properly positioned.
Solenoid improperly
connected.
See if the green light goes on without the feed rolls going
down. If so, the solenoid is not properly connected.
Failed PC board.
Replace the PC board. See “Removing the PC Board” in
chapter 9 and “Replacing the PC Board” in chapter 14.

Operating printer in a

temperature is above
what is recommended.
Adjust the room temperature.
Move the printer to a cooler location.
Continuous graphics
printing (regardless of
room temperature).
Reduce the demand on the printer.
Operating printer in a
room where the
temperature is below
what is recommended.
Adjust the room temperature.
Move the printer to a warmer location.
Note:
The printer will shut off when it is over or under temperature. Refer to
Appendix A for the recommended temperature range for operating the printer.
