Reassembling Mechanisms in the Base Assembly

Note:

The paper feed motor, solenoid & pivot arm assemblies, forms guide assembly and

the forms compensation assembly must be assembled in the base before mechanisms can
be replaced in the printer.

The base/feed mechanism is the base in which the print mechanism, thermal receipt
mechanism, and PC board are replaced.

Replace the print mechanism. For more information, see “Replacing the Print
Mechanism” in chapter 14.

Replace the thermal mount. For more information, see “Replacing the Thermal Mount”
in chapter 14.

Replace the thermal receipt mechanism. For more information, see “Replacing the
Thermal Receipt Mechanism” in chapter 8.

Replace the PC board. For more information, see “Replacing the PC Board” in
chapter 14.

Adjust the platen gap. For more information, see “Adjusting the Platen Gap” in
chapter 5.

Place the wrench on the left adjusting eccentric and the feeler gauge on the left side
between the platen and the printhead.

Adjust the eccentric until you feel a slight drag on the gauge.

Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the right side.

Note:

For models that have the MICR check reader option, make sure the feeler gauge is

not on the magnet in the MICR assembly when adjusting the right eccentric.

Finishing

Replace the sensor bracket. For more information, see “Removing the Sensor Bracket”
in chapter 9.

Replace the slip table. For more information, see “Preparation” in chapter 9.

Replace the ribbon cassette and hinge arm assembly (front cover). For more
information, “Replacing the Hinge Arm Assembly” in chapter 14.

Replace the top cover. For more information, see “Replacing the Top Cover” in
chapter 8.

Replace the receipt cover. For more information, see “Replacing the Receipt Cover” in
chapter 8.

Reconnect the communication and power cables.

Models receiving power from the host computer (integrated) use one cable for
communication and power. Models receiving power from a power supply (remote)
use one cable for communication and a separate cable for power.
