Chapter 9: Removing the Print Mechanism

Removing the Hinge Arm Assembly

Front

Cover

Extension
Spring

Carriage

Drive

Mechanism

Ribbon

Cassette

Torsion
Spring

Open the hinge arm assembly and remove the extension spring connecting the hinge
arm assembly to the right side of the carriage drive mechanism.

Caution:

Don’t force the cover off or the arms may bend, causing the cover to not work

properly. The entire hinge arm assembly would then need to be replaced.

Hold the hinge arm assembly halfway open and press down at the torsion springs and
slide the cover back and up, bringing it off toward the right side.

Pull out the ribbon cassette.
