12.5 Auto Purge
WARNING
Use protective clothing, goggles and gloves.
Ensure that the protective guards are placed around the nozzle to prevent
the molten plastic from splashing or drooling.
Material purged from the machine will be extremely hot.
The Auto Purge screen is used to adjust the settings and perform the Auto
Purge. Push the Start and Stop buttons for the operation. See the E-Multi
Controller User Manual for more information.
12.6 Maintenance
Follow the recommended maintenance in “Section 9 - Maintenance” on page
9-1. Additional E-Multi Servo Carriage maintenance instructions are listed in
this section.
12.6.1 Check the Lubrication of the Ball Screw
The E-Multi Servo Carriage assembly requires periodic maintenance of the
ball screw nut.
1. Move the carriage back to the rear hardstop.
2. Remove the support beam cover. Unscrew 4x button head screws with 5
mm (0.2 in.) hex key.
3. Press the E-Stop on the controller.

Follow the procedures in “3.6.1 Electrical Lockout” on page 3-10 and
lockout / tagout the E-Multi system.
5.
Ensure that the grease fitting is clean.
6.
Use a grease gun and apply sufficient grease for relubrication. See “Table
11-2 Grease Lubrication Volume - Ball Screw Nut” on page 11-14 for
lubrication specification.
7. Reinstall the support beam cover.
