Appendix K
Parallel Booms Configuration
As described at the beginning of this manual, the
MT-3405D is capable of running in a “parallel booms”
configuration. to do this, you will need to order an adapter
kit and any appropriate length extension cables as needed.
(See Appendix J).
The system layout and wiring diagram on the following
pages shows how the adapter kit connects into the wiring
harness.
The Parallel Branches Adapter Kit (P/N 17316)
includes the following:
Take a look at the system layout and wiring diagram shown
on the following pages. The layout shows how the hardware
adapter module takes each of the five Ch1 boom outputs,
and splits them into two banks of outputs (up to 5 outputs
per bank), which are controlled by each of the Ch1 boom
switches. for example, if the console’s Ch1 Boom switch is
ON, then valve output #1 is turned on in each bank (Ch1:
Boom1, Ch2: Boom1) - hence the name, parallel.
After the harnessing is installed and the auxiliary switch
mounted on the console bracket, the console needs to be
set to run in the “Parallel” mode of operation
(See “Mode”
under Special Calibration on pages 31-33).
OPERATION:
The operation is the same as normal, with each channel
having its own independent control (with the exception that
Ch2 uses the same boom widths as Ch1).
Take a look at the
illustrations at right.

Qty P/N Description
1 17227 Adapter Module
2 17234 Cable, 5-section branch with QD (18”)
1 17314 Cable, Ch1 & Ch2 Enable (36”)
1 14147 Extension Cable, 7-pin (10’)
1 17148 Ch2 Liquid Branch harness (10’)
1 17230 Auxiliary switch bracket, knob
1 17228 Cable, Ch1 Disable, Ch2 Ext. (10’)
Please note the lengths of the above cables as shown in
the system layout. If you require any additional cables
please refer to Appendix J.
Boom icons show up in both right hand displays. For
example, the top illustration shows that when just the Ch1,
Boom5 switch is off, the ‘5’ icon in each channel’s display is
off. This indicates that boom output 5 is OFF for both Ch1
and Ch2.
Also note the function of each switch. Either the Ch1 bank, or
the Ch2 bank, or the Ch1 and Ch1 bank of valves can be shut
off with the flip of a single switch.
Switch Position Action
1:
Ch2 = ‘OFF’
Ch2 boom valves are OFF
2:
Aux = Down
Ch1 boom valves are OFF
3:
Ch1 = Master HOLD Both Ch1 & Ch2 valves are OFF
NOTE: When using the MT3405D with VRA, each channel
can be shut off independently when mapping computer
sends a Target Rate = 0 command.
