C Measuring program groups / Tab bar for switching between views: This tab bar allows you
to switch between the four main views (see Chap.
3.2 ). To the left of the tab bar you find the sec-
tion for adding, removing and selecting measuring program groups (see Chap. 3.15 ).
D 3D-View: The 3D-View visualizes the 3D data (see Chap. 3.10 ).
E Measuring toolbar: Use this toolbar to set various ROIs for the measurement (see Chap. 3.16.4 ,
3.16.5 and 3.16.6 ).
F 3D-View toolbar: Use this toolbar to configure the orientation of the coordinate system in the
3D-View (see Chap.
3.10 ).
G “Start measurement” button: Click on this button to perform a measuring operation, calculate
the measurement results and display the point cloud and measurement results of the currently
selected measuring program in the 3D-View.
H Results display: The measurement results of the currently selected measuring program are dis-
played. Here, you can select which measured values are to be made available later for calcula-
tion, OK/nOK assessment, logging and output (see Chapter
3.16.8 ).
I Status bar: Status and error messages are displayed in the status bar (see Chapter 8.1 ).
1 Input data: Use this selection field to select the input data for the program (see also Chap. 3.16.3 ).
2 - Mode: The following modes are available for cylinder fit:
 Standard: All points which are inside the ROIs are used for computing the cylinder fit.

Optimized fit: When this option is activated, an additional preselection of the points is
applied prior to the cylinder fit in order to automatically discard outliers or points that do
not belong to the cylinder. The points are selected such that the distances from the re-
sulting cylinder are less than the predefined threshold and such that the maximum possi-
ble number of points is used. Therefore, only the points that best match the cylinder are
used for the cylinder fit.
 Fixed radius: If the radius of the cylinder is well known, you may force the radius with
this option. Thus the computation of the position of the cylinder is more precise.

Threshold: The threshold for the preselection of the points in case of an activated “Optimized
fit” option. Points that deviate from the cylinder to a smaller degree than the threshold are used
for the cylinder fit. A higher threshold means that more points are used for the cylinder fit.

Radius: Here you may specify the radius of the cylinder in case of an activated “Fixed radius”
option.
3 3D-View: The 3D-View shows the fitted cylinder (yellow). The points that were used to calculate the
cylinder are shown with a color gradient (“Colors” palette, see Chap.
8.4 ). The points that best
match the cylinder are shown in green. The discarded points are shown in gray.
