5.1.12 “Erosion” Measuring Program
The “Erosion” program makes it possible to remove unwanted points in the edge regions of a point
cloud. The “Filter size” parameter specifies the size of the centered quadratic or circular element used for
the erosion. The larger the element, the more points are removed. Points within closed regions of the
point cloud are not changed. The “Shape” parameter specifies the shape of the erosion mask. Proceed
as follows:

If applicable, select the input data for the erosion (see below, section “1” and Chap. 3.16.3 ).

If necessary, select a range for the erosion algorithm. Points which are outside the selected range
will remain unchanged. (see section “E” and Chap.
3.16.4 , 3.16.5 and 3.16.6 ).

Select the filter size (see below, section “2”).

Display Elements and Parameters in the “Erosion” Program:
A “General” toolbar: Using this toolbar, you can select the data source (see Chapter 3.4 und 3.5 ),
save and load parameters and reset selected parameters to default settings (see Chapter 3.17 ).
B List of active measuring programs: This section displays the active measuring programs from the
“Data preprocessing” group. You can add and remove measuring programs (see Chap.
3.13 ),
move them (see Chap. 3.14 ) and select an active measuring program for parameterizing and dis-
playing the measured values.
C Measuring program groups / Tab bar for switching between views: This tab bar allows you to
switch between the four main views (see Chap.
3.2 ). To the left of the tab bar you find the section
for adding, removing and selecting measuring program groups (see Chap. 3.15 ).
D 3D-View: The 3D-View visualizes the 3D data (see Chap. 3.10 ).
E Measuring toolbar: Use this toolbar to set various ROIs for the measurement (see Chap. 3.16.4 ,
3.16.5 and 3.16.6 ).
F 3D-View toolbar: Use this toolbar to configure the orientation of the coordinate system in the 3D-
View (see Chap.
3.10 ).
G “Start measurement” button: Click on this button to perform a measuring operation, calculate the
measurement results and display the point cloud and measurement results of the currently se-
lected measuring program in the 3D-View.
H Status bar: Status and error messages are displayed in the status bar (see Chapter 8.1 ).
