[D] Feed the media under the Brush Assembly and into the printer . Be sure to align the non-
operator side of the media leader with the two alignment pins [D] on the Printer Then gently push
the media into the Printer until it hits resistance (leader touching Print Engine feed roller).
[E] Slide the Label Side Guide [E] until it just touches the operator side of the media.
Tighten the locking knob on the Label Side Guide.
4. Make sure the media leader is still making contact with the Print Engine feed roller. Hold the
media at this position while you press the LOAD/FEED Button momentarily. Release your hold
when the printer starts to pull-in the media. The Printer will pull in and align the media. The
LOAD/FEED Button will show a steady illumination, when this process has completed
successfully.
Tip : If you don’t hold the media against the print engines feed roller, during this loading process,
the winder may pull the media back and you will need to re-thread again.
5. Make sure your print job is ready to be sent to the printer ; but don’t send yet.
IMPORTANT : In Roll to Roll mode; if you leave the unprinted media leader threaded through
the printer, or you pause the print job, for more than 5 minutes, the printer will automatically cut
and retract the media so it can clean and cap the printhead. Therefore, you must finish this entire
setup process and begin to send the job before the timer reaches zero.
A count-down timer is
provided in the Toolbox.
6. To feed the media through the Printer and create a leader; hold the LOAD/FEED button down for
about 6 seconds (ON/OFF button will flash once to acknowledge).
If the system doesn’t respond;
check to be sure your Winder is Powered ON. If it was off, turn it ON, wait a few seconds and try
again.
Please Be Patient! If the printhead hasn't been cleaned in awhile, it may take a minute or
two for the printer to clean the printhead before it begins to feed the media through the printer.
Tips
: If you press and hold the LOAD/FEED button longer, it will keep feeding media until you
release the key. If you don’t want to waste media (blank labels), to create a leader; you can send
your job and allow the printer to print about 20 inches of media before pressing the
PAUSE/RESUME button to pause the job. Then attach the printed leader to the Winder. Then
press the PAUSE/RESUME (Load/Feed) button to resume printing.
7. Turn the Winder’s Mode Switch OFF .
To keep the Winder from running (turning), while lifting the Label Tension Arm and attaching the
leader to the core, be sure to turn OFF the power switch on the Winder.
