Installation considerations
INSTALLATION OF A SPEEDSYS300 ODS301
3.2.2 Power supply
NOTE:
Knowledge of the installation of field wiring and protective earth (PE),
instrument earth (IE) and intrinsically safe earth (IS) is required.
The SpeedSys300 ODS301 module is certified as being a separated or safety extra-low
voltage (SELV) system.
NOTE:
SELV electrical circuits are electrically separated from other circuits that carry
higher voltages, isolated from the earth and from the protective earth conductors
of other circuits. The system cannot suffer any electrical surge from other systems,
not even through the ground connectors of other systems.
provides detailed information on the requirements/specifications for the
SpeedSys300 ODS301 module’s power supply (input).
NOTE:
Refer to the
SpeedSys300 ODS301 overspeed detection system data sheet
for
further information.
The SpeedSys300 ODS301 module has two se24 V
DC
power supply inputs (PSU 1
and PSU 2) to support external power supply redundancy for improved system availability
(see
A SpeedSys300 ODS301 module should be powered (energised) using a limited-power,
low-voltage power supply or supplies such as the APFxxx 24 V
DC
power supply or other
suitable power supply unit, that is, a 24 V
DC
isolated (SELV) power supply.
