During a software update, your FOMA terminal information (model and manufacturing
numbers) are automatically sent to a software update server managed by DOCOMO.
DOCOMO shall not use this information for any purpose other than software update.
If the software update fails, "Major update: Rewrite failed." appears and no further operation
may be possible. In this case, please take the FOMA terminal to a repair counter specified by
DOCOMO.
If a PIN code has been set, you will need to enter the PIN code when you restart the FOMA
terminal after the update has been installed.
Do not start any other applications during a software update.
Starting software update
● Updating by packet communication
Download the software to the FOMA terminal directly.

Insert a microSD card to the FOMA terminal.

Insert a microSD card beforehand because software is downloaded via microSD card.

Add an access point for software update.
•
Follow the following procedure: From the Home screen,

→ "Settings" → "Wireless &
networks" → "Mobile networks" → "Access Point Names" →

→ "New APN".
Enter any name in "Name" field and enter "docomo-fota.net" in "APN" field.

network)" (P.72).

On APNs screen, tap a radio button of the added access point.

The Home screen reappears.

From the Home screen,

→ "Settings" → "About phone" →
"Major updates" → "Update now" → "Updates by network".

Follow the instructions on the screen.

When software update is completed, restore the access point
setting.
