Configuring Settings for
Overseas Network
Connection
When you use the FOMA terminal overseas, it
is necessary to switch to the network of an
operator to which your terminal can connect
in the country you are staying. At the time of
purchase, the FOMA terminal is set to
automatically search for and then switch to a
network that can be connected to but you
can also change the settings manually.
Configuring Network Mode

From the Home screen,

→ "Settings" → "Wireless &
networks" → "Mobile
networks" → "Network
Mode".

The "Preferred network mode" screen
appears.

Select the mode.
WCDMA only…Uses 3G network.
GSM only…Uses GSM network.
WCDMA/GSM auto…Automatically
switches to network that can be
connected to.

The "Available networks" screen
appears, and a list of operator names
appears.

You can search again by tapping

The operator names that are displayed

NOTE
If you manually set the operator to connect
to, the FOMA terminal will not automatically
switch to another operator that can be
connected, when you move out of the
service area.
