“Don’t use a signal with amplitude less than”
– minimum threshold value of sig-
nal amplitude to be accepted for calculation.
“Sufficient signal amplitude”
is used for the device autodiagnostics with the use
of echo signal amplitude as a criterion.
“Time of stable signal identification”
– sharp readings fluctuations damping time.
At the sharp and significant change of distance to the reflecting surface, device will
not deliver new distance value until the set time expiration. Delay in device re-
sponse to the distance change in the steady-state mode is natural occurrence, be-
cause product level in the real vessel does not show abrupt changes. Such behavior
is result of algorithm for elimination of product surface instability effects on the de-
vice readings.
“Readings settling time”
– parameter determining device dynamic behavior; it is
set depending on the maximum vessel level change rate.
Excessive decreasing the ‘Readings settling time’ parameter improves dynamic be-
havior but extends readings dispersion and impairs level transmitter performance
in case of disturbances on the product surface in vessel, for example, at product
boiling or vessel top filling.
“Pipe diameter”
– setting used for other type of ULM series level transmitters at
product level measurement in the guide pipe (not to be confused with mounting at
the stub tube.) Indicate internal pipe diameter in the tenths of millimeter (“2000” for
the 200mm pipe). In all other cases (including mounting at the stub tube), the value
of this field must be equal to 0.

ommendations based on the provided diagnostics information, see Section 7.
