The clod size depends on the following parameters:
• The rotor speed.
• The forward speed.
• The working depth.
• The rear hood position.
Example: large clods result from a low rotor speed
and a high forward speed.
Use of the machine entails limits which must be respected in all situations and that are often tied
in with the following factors:
• Weather conditions: Avoid working during and immediately after rain, wait until the ground
to be worked is completely drained.
• Soil types: Smooth clods indicate too malleable or too humid soil to be worked in; Wait until
ground is completely drained. Soil concistency is ideal when clods crumble without sticking.
• Power of tractor used: Adapt working depth, speed and rotor speed to power available and
work to be carried out. Never exceed the maximum allowable DIN engine power.
• Rear hood adjustment: It is not advised to work to deep when the hoods are fully closed. The
hoods must be enough opened to allow a good flow of the tilled ground. If the rotor is
working deep down in the soil and the hoods are closed, the large amount of worked ground
could clog the rotor and deteriorate the hoods.
