7.1.3.3
Closed-loop control mode in a multiple pump configuration
PumpDrive enables multiple pump operation with up to 6 PumpDrives of the same
power rating. For this purpose, the drives are interconnected by means of the KSB
local bus. Multiple pump configurations enable demand-based closed-loop control of
the PumpDrives connected to the KSB local bus. Pumps of the same type and same
power rating can be started in parallel and stopped depending on the motor input
power. Closed-loop control in the multiple pump configuration is managed by an
Advanced control panel (active master). If simple redundancy is to be provided for
the active master control panel, an additional Advanced control panel must be
installed in the system.
For proper implementation of the closed-loop control function, the required
parameters must be set as described in (
Section 7.1.1.4 Page 54) . In particular, the
PI Mode parameter
(3-9-1-1)
must be set to Enabled.
In a multiple pump configuration, the settings for closed-loop control mode have to
be made using the active master control panel on the main pump.
7.1.3.4
Open-loop control mode in a multiple pump configuration
PumpDrive enables multiple pump operation with up to 6 PumpDrives of the same
power rating. For this purpose, the drives are interconnected by means of the KSB
local bus. Multiple pump configurations enable demand-based open-loop control of
the PumpDrives connected to the KSB local bus. Pumps of the same type and same
power rating can be started in parallel and stopped depending on the motor input
power. Open-loop control in the multiple pump configuration is managed by an
Advanced control panel (active master). If simple redundancy is to be provided for
the active master control panel, an additional Advanced control panel must be
installed in the system.
Open-loop control mode is activated in a multiple pump configuration in the
following cases:
▪
The PI Mode parameter
(3-9-1-1)
has been set to Enabled before multiple pump
operation is started using the System Start function. In this case, all pumps in the
system will run in open-loop control mode based on a common setpoint. The
setpoint can be specified as described in (
▪
Fixed speed operation has been activated (
Section 7.2.5 Page 91) before or
after multiple pump operation is started via the System Start function. The
Advanced control panel (active master) polls the digital inputs of the main pump
or auxiliary main pump and checks whether fixed speed operation has been
parameterised. If fixed speed operation is activated while the system is in closed-
loop control multiple pump operation (PI Mode parameter
(3-9-1-1)
Enabled),
multiple pump operation will switch to open-loop control mode (PI Mode
