Service and maintenance
SPINDLE BEARING
• Disassemble the steering joint.
• Remove the covers (1). Inspect the grease.
• Fold the locking washer down (2).
• Loosen the bolt (3) a few turns.
• Ensure that the lower bolt (4) is tight, the correct torque is
about 980 Nm.
•
NOTE!
The nut (4) is not used for pre-tensioning the bearings.
• All bearing pre-tensioning is done with the upper bolt (3).
• Tighten the upper bolt (3) with about 245-294 Nm.
• Ensure that there is no play and that the spindle can be turned
easily without any jarring noise or irregular resistance.
• Refit the the covers (1).
