The only additional step that you need to program is the Pacing. At the end of the step you must
specify if the next step will start when the dwell time has elapsed or when an external trigger is
received.
Once the step is configured, the Time field will indicate the time that is allocated to the step. The
Pacing field indicates the method of transitioning to the next step; either dwell time or external trigger.
Select the Add button to insert a new step below the selected step. Note that the values in the new
step are copied from the previous step. Select and edit another Arb from the Name dropdown list.
Select Delete if you want to delete the selected step. Continue to Add steps until your sequence is
complete. Use the Up and Down buttons or the
▲ ▼
navigation keys to move through the list.
Total Time indicates the total run-time of the sequence.
Waveform Quality indicates the number of points allocated to the portions of the sine, ramp,
trapezoid, and exponential waveforms that change continuously over time. Normally, each continuous
section is approximated using 100 points, but in an Arb sequence this could result in exceeding the
511-point limit as more waveforms are added. The more of these waveforms that are added to the
sequence, the fewer points will be allocated, down to a minimum of 16 points.
Press the Advanced button to specify what happens when the Arb sequence completes – select
whether the output Returns to the DC Value that was in effect before the waveform started, or
whether the output should remain at the Last Arb Value. Also specify if the Arb sequence should
repeat, either continuously or only for a specified repeat count. A repeat count of 2 runs the sequence
twice.
