ESW Download on a redundant COGE5 Unit plugged in the first Time
The unit ESW (UN ESW) and the network element ESW (NE ESW) can be
downloaded and started on a redundant COGE5 unit using the ECST tools
menu “Software Download …” or via the ECST at the access points AP: /
unit-x, Main - Software and AP: /unit-x/neController, Main - Software.

The instructions below assume
- the ECST accesses the above mentioned access points.
- the active COGE5 unit is plugged in slot 11, the redundant COGE5 unit is
plugged in slot 13.
The following actions must be performed to download and start the
‒ network element ESW, and the
‒ unit ESW.
Download and start the NE
ESW
Proceed as follows:
1. Set up a management connection to the XMC20 network element.

Select the user class “manager”. This is necessary to receive the
access rights for downloading ESWs to the units of the NE.
2. Select the AP: /unit-13/neController, i.e. the redundant COGE5 unit.

The AP: /unit-13/neController is running in the network element boot-
loader (bco5n_rxx).
3. Open the MF “Main” of the AP: /unit-13/neController and select the tab
“Software”.

Select the desired COGE5 NE ESW (co5ne_r2bxx) in the list of
“Software On Element Manager” and click “Download”.

Wait until the download is terminated and the ESW appears in the list
“Software On Unit”.
4. In “Configuration” select the downloaded ESW under “Software”.

Check that “Software Installation” is set to “Manual Start”.

Execute “Apply”.

Save the configuration to the NE flash memory: Execute “Save to
NE”.
5. Start the new software.

Click the command button “Start Software”. This reboots the redun-
dant control unit.
6. Wait until the unit has booted.

The AP: /unit-13/neController is running the NE ESW (co5ne_r2bxx).
-
The AP: /unit-13 is still running in the unit bootloader (bco5u_rxxxx).
Result:
The neController of the redundant COGE5 unit is running the
configured ESW.
Download and start the UN
ESW
Proceed as follows:
1. Select the AP: /unit-13, i.e. the redundant COGE5 unit.

The AP: /unit-13 is running in the unit bootloader (bco5u_rxx).
