The
symbol indicates the risk of the hot COGE5-F front cover.
The electrical Ethernet interfaces provide two LEDs indicating the link activity
state and the link state:
Figure 7:
Ethernet link LEDs on the electrical Ethernet interfaces
The activity LED has the following states:
− Yellow blinking: Traffic activity.
− Dark: No traffic.
The link LED has the following states:
− Green: 10/100/1000 Mbit/s link up.
− Dark: Link down.

SFP+ 10GbE optical Modules and Cables
The 10GbE optical interfaces on COGE5 consist of two SFP+ (Small Form
factor Pluggable Plus) module cages.
The COGE5 unit only provides the mechanical infrastructure for SFP+ mod-
ules: This is a cage and a host board connector. COGE5 allows hot swap-
ping of SFP+ modules.
Please note:
SFP+ modules must be fully MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) compliant [SFF-
8431]. Please note that only KEYMILE’s recommended SFP+ modules
should be used in order to guarantee inter-working with the COGE5 unit.
→ In order to get the latest list of KEYMILE’s recommended SFP+ mod-
ules please refer to the KEYMILE Extranet
(via
) → Documentation & Software → XMC20
→ Techn. Documentation → Bulletins.
Then go to Technical Bulletins, and open the “Supported SFP Trans-
ceivers” document once you have logged in.
The recommended SFP+ module types are listed in the above mentioned
Technical Bulletin.
The selection of the transceiver and the media type will determine the maxi-
mum distance allowed according to the transmission media specifications.
For details on connectors and pins for this interface, please refer to [SFF-
8431].
SFP+ DDM (Digital Diagnostic & Monitoring) is supported on the SFP+ mod-
ules that are plugged in the SFP cages of the COGE5 unit provided that the
module itself is supporting this feature.
