Installation
The optical 10GbE interfaces (SFP+ modules) are equipped with industry
standard duplex LC connectors. Connection to other types of connectors as
e.g. SC or FC-PC is possible with converter cables (optical jumpers) or via
an optical distribution frame.
The 10GBASE-LR modules perform as specified with optical single mode
fibres conforming to IEC 60793-2-50 (Optical fibres - Part 2-50: Product
specifications - Sectional specification for class B single-mode fibres), cable
types B1.1 or B1.3.
4.4.3
SFP GbE optical Modules and Cables
The GbE optical interfaces on COGE5 consist of two SFP (Small Form factor
Pluggable) module cages.
The COGE5 unit only provides the mechanical infrastructure for SFP mod-
ules: This is a cage and a host board connector. COGE5 allows hot swap-
ping of SFP modules.
Please note:
SFP modules must be fully MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) compliant [INF-
8074]. Please note that only KEYMILE’s recommended SFP modules should
be used in order to guarantee inter-working with the COGE5 unit.
→ In order to get the latest list of KEYMILE’s recommended SFP mod-
ules please refer to the KEYMILE Extranet
(via
) → Documentation & Software → XMC20
→ Techn. Documentation → Bulletins.
Then go to Technical Bulletins, and open the “Supported SFP Trans-
ceivers” document once you have logged in.
The recommended SFP module types are listed in the above mentioned
Technical Bulletin.
The selection of the transceiver and the media type will determine the maxi-
mum distance allowed according to the transmission media specifications.
For details on connectors and pins for this interface, please refer to [INF-
8074].
SFP DDM (Digital Diagnostic & Monitoring) is supported on the SFP mod-
ules that are plugged in the SFP cages of the COGE5 unit provided that the
module itself is supporting this feature.
The optical 1GbE interfaces (SFP modules) are equipped with industry
standard duplex LC connectors. Connection to other types of connectors as
e.g. SC or FC-PC is possible with converter cables (optical jumpers) or via
an optical distribution frame.
The 1000BASE-SX modules perform as specified with optical multi mode
fibres conforming to IEC 60793-2-10 (Optical fibres - Part 2-10: Product
specifications - Sectional specification for category A1 multi mode fibres),
cable type A1a.1 (OM2), A1a.2 (OM3) or A1a.3 (OM4).
The 1000BASE-LX and -EX modules perform as specified with optical single
mode fibres conforming to IEC 60793-2-50 (Optical fibres - Part 2-50: Prod-
uct specifications - Sectional specification for class B single-mode fibres),
cable types B1.1, B1.3, B6_a1 or B6_a2.
The 1000BASE-ZX modules perform as specified with optical single mode
fibres conforming to IEC 60793-2-50, cable type B1.2.
