Stereo pairs
•
You permanently connect two Sonos devices as a stereo pair, which is then treated as a s ingle Sonos
device.
•
The one Sonos device acts as a left-hand audio channel and the other as the right-hand one.
•
You can only create a s tereo pair in the Sonos s oftware.
•
You can us e the s tereo pair in Sonos groups , es pecially as a mas ter or s lave within mas ter-s lave
groups . You can configure mas ter-s lave groups in the ETS. See
Configuring parameters , p. 69 for
more details.

Stereo pair: Connect Sonos devices
3.2.1
Stereo pair: Connect Sonos devices permanently
Two Sonos devices are grouped in the Sonos software to ens ure that this mus ic is played in s ynchronis ation.
What makes a s tereo pair s pecial is that the one Sonos device acts as a left-hand audio channel and the other
as the right-hand one.
The two devices become a s ingle Sonos device for KNX and in the Sonos software. The two Sonos devices
can no longer be controlled s eparately via KNX. You configure the s tereo pair as a master or s lave in the ETS,
jus t like any other Sonos device.
The s tereo pair cannot be s eparated us ing KNX; you need to s eparate them in the Sonos s oft-
ware, where you als o define the s tereo pair. You only need to enter the stereo pair's IP addres s
within the ETS. This is the IP addres s of the Sonos device which you have des ignated the firs t
device in the s tereo pair in the Sonos s oftware. You can learn how to create or s eparate s tereo
pairs and much more in the Sonos documentation.
The following diagram s hows that only one Sonos device is recognis ed via KNX:
•
Room – dining room: Sonos device 1
•
Room – living room: Sonos device 3
•
The Sonos devices 2 and 4 are invisible for the Sonos software and KNX.
