Fault: Check Actuator
1.
Fault: RCU did not recognize actuator position while
in automatic mode (PTO ON).
2.
Possible root cause(s) and troubleshooting
procedure:
a.
Actuator signal connector terminals are spread.
•
Inspect and check connector terminal for
spreading
b.
Actuator signal connector cable (22 awg) splice
to main harness (18 awg) is faulty.
•
Measure continuity: DMV-Ohms should be
less than 0.5 Ohms and no crossover
between circuits.
c.
Faulty or damaged harness (main/actuator)
•
Visual inspection
•
Measure continuity: DMV-Ohms should be
less than 0.5 Ohms and no crossover
between circuits.
d.
Actuator potentiometer is faulty
•
Unlikely problem
•
If occurs, swap actuator with known good
actuator.
e.
RCU faulty
•
Very unlikely problem
•
If occurs, swap RCU outputs (J6, J7, or J8)
to determine if problem moves.
•
If problem moves, RCU is faulty.
•
If not, start over at Step 1.
3.
Fixes:
a.
For issues 2.a – 2.c: Replace actuator signal
harness. From actuator to RCU, use part number
4300216.
Add dielectric grease to O-ring
ONLY (not to terminals.)
b.
For issue 2.d: Replace actuator. If issue is
corrected, reinstall old actuator to verify fault
returns.
c.
For issue 2.e: Replace RCU. If issue is corrected,
reinstall old RCU to verify fault returns.
4.
If unit still does not operate after performing all the
above procedures, please contact Technical Support
immediately.
No Traction, No Fault
1.
Fault: Loss of traction with no fault(s) and brake
indication light remains ON.
2.
Possible root cause(s) and troubleshooting
procedure:
a. Traction system has not passed “start up test”
i.
Visually inspect brake release screws, for
towing, are not installed.
ii.
Physically verify traction pedal is not
mechanically held out of neutral. Also verify
voltage is between 0.3 and 0.8VDC with
pedal in neutral.
iii. Physically verify brake pedal is returning to
neutral.
iv. Verify seat switch input is reaching MCU
(green LED) and MCU is activating the
traction contactor (MCU green LED.)
b.
Faulty traction pedal
i.
Measure approximately 48VDC at traction
pedal between J48-pin1 and chassis GND.
Add test wire between PDU stud 7 and pedal
J48-pin1.
ii.
Measure approximately 48VDC direction
(J44-pin20 FWD) to chassis GND
AND
speed signal approximately 4.2VDC
(J44-pin9 to J44-pin4).
Conduct this test
with pedal fully depressed in FWD
direction and using test harness 4225240.
c.
Faulty brake switch
i.
Measure continuity: DMV-Ohms should be
less than 0.2 Ohms at brake switch terminals
between J73-NC1 and J73-NC2.
d.
Incorrect brake sensor signal
i.
Measure 0.5VDC between J49-C and J49-B
(GND.) If signal is more than 0.5VDC with
brake pedal not depressed, switch is faulty.
3.
Fixes:
a.
For issue 2.a.i: Remove brake release screws.
b.
For issue 2.a.ii: Replace pedal if neutral voltage
is incorrect. If issue is corrected, reinstall old
pedal to verify fault returns.
c.
For issue 2.a.iii: Correct brake pedal binding
and/or clean possible debris.
d.
For issue 2.a.iv: Correct faulty seat switch or
wiring and/or correct faulty traction contactor.
e.
For issue 2.b.i: If problem is corrected after test
wire is added, contact Technical Support.
f.
For issue 2.b.ii: Replace pedal if either voltage
reading is incorrect. If issue is corrected, reinstall
old pedal to verify fault returns.
g.
For issue 2.c: Replace faulty brake switch or
connection.
h.
For issue 2.d: Replace faulty brake sensor.
4.
If unit still does not operate after performing all the
above procedures, please contact Technical Support
immediately.
