Traction Surging During Mow/Transport, No
Fault
1.
Fault: Traction surge noted during transport,
especially while going uphill, with no fault shown in
LDU and engine speed (RPM) is stable.
2.
Possible root cause(s) and troubleshooting
procedure:
a.
Low system voltage 45VDC or less initiates the
speed cutback routine. This speed cutback is a
normal symptom experienced under extreme
hills or loads. Weak batteries, including buffer
pack, and/or low generator output can cause this
surge under less than extreme hills or loads.
i.
Load test buffer batteries individually using
carbon pile tester. A good battery will
maintain 10VDC or higher when loaded to
200 Amps for 10 seconds. In electric units,
load test battery pack using battery
discharger.
ii.
Measure generator output voltage by
disconnecting main power Blue Anderson
connector with engine running. Read system
voltage in LDU. If 52VDC or higher,
generator output is good.
iii. Check for excessive mechanical traction
circuit loads (bearings, brake dragging, etc.)
b.
Low voltage into traction pedal input can cause
surge. This symptom is
USUALLY
experienced
with the inability to reach maximum set speed.
i.
Measure approximately 48VDC at traction
pedal between J48-pin1 and chassis GND.
Add test wire between PDU stud 7 and pedal
J48-pin1.
3.
Fixes:
a.
Reduce travel speed and see if problem is
resolved.
b.
For issue 2.a.i: Replace bad battery. If batteries
are older than one year, replace the entire set of
4.
c.
For issue 2.a.ii: If voltage is between 48VDC and
52VDC, adjust engine throttle actuator as
specified in service manual. If less than 48VDC,
contact Customer Care.
d.
For issue 2.a.iii: Correct mechanical issue.
e.
For issue 2.b.1: If problem is corrected after test
wire is added, contact Technical Support.
4.
If unit still does not operate after performing all the
above procedures, please contact Technical Support
immediately.
Traction Fault 6211
1.
Fault: No traction with a 6211 fault shown in LDU
2.
Possible root cause(s) and troubleshooting
procedure:
a. Traction pedal out of range
•
Measure speed sensor voltage.
Conduct
this test with pedal fully depressed and
using test harness 4225240.
Measure
approximately 4.2VDC (J44-pin9 to
J44-pin4.)
b.
Traction contactor – TCU charge timeout may be
displayed on LDU screen.
•
Slow to close. Measure less than 2 seconds
from seat switch LED ON to traction
contactor LED ON at MCU.
3.
Fixes:
a.
For issue 2.a: Adjust traction pedal range to
4.0-4.2VDC in service manual
b.
For issue 2.b: Add a secondary PTC – Kit
Number 4284993
4.
If unit still does not operate after performing all the
above procedures, please contact Technical Support
immediately.
Traction Fault 6212 (OLM and BRC)
1.
Fault: No traction with a 6212 fault shown in LDU
2.
Possible root cause(s) and troubleshooting
procedure:
a. TCU is receiving a FWD/REV simultaneously
i.
Check for moisture or corrosion at J48, J93
and J44.
ii.
Measure voltage approximately 48VDC at
J48-pin4 to chassis GND with pedal fully
depressed in the FWD direction. Also
measure voltage approximately 0VDC at
J48-pin5 to chassis GND with pedal fully
depressed.
iii. BRC Fault
3.
3. Fixes:
a.
For issue 2.a.i: Correct and clean connectors or
wiring.
b.
For issue 2.a.ii: If voltage is present at both pins
in FWD mode, replace faulty pedal. If issue is
corrected, reinstall old pedal to verify fault
returns.
c.
For issue 2.a.iii: Check BRC and resistor
connections. If issue is not corrected, replace
with known good BRC. If issue is corrected,
reinstall old BRC to verify fault returns.
4.
If unit still does not operate after performing all the
above procedures, please contact Technical Support
immediately.
