RAMSES RT 2500 S Universal – User Guide
II.2.3.2
Transponder Mode
The RT961S-Mk2 has two independent interrogation transponder channels for positioning:
IIF / CIF also called IIF1 / IIF2.
Each of the channels can be individually activated or inhibited in transponder mode by the
acoustic remote control. The activation of the transponder mode inhibits the responder
mode on the same channel.
The RT961S-Mk2 can be interrogated by an acoustic signal coming from:
•
USBL-BOX associated with an POSIDONIA acoustic antenna
•
RAMSES
6000
•
TT801 remote control unit
If the transponder mode is activated (ENABLE) on the interrogation channel IIF or CIF, the
transponder replies by an acoustic positioning signal respectively IRF or CRF only
compatible with the USBL-BOX or RAMSES 6000.
If the transponder mode is inhibited (DISABLE) on the interrogation channel, the
transponder ignores the interrogation and no acoustic transmission occurs.
II.2.3.3
Responder Mode
The transponder has on responder interrogation channel. The Responder mode can be
attributed to one of the two transponder channels (IIF / CIF) by the acoustic remote control
unit of by serial link. The activation of one channel in Responder mode inhibits the
Transponder mode on the same channel.
In this mode, the interrogation is achieved by a electrical synchronization signal. The
acoustic answer is of the same kind than the in Transponder mode.
The responder synchronization signal is generated by the USBL-BOX or RAMSES 6000
or by a stable internal clock.
In Responder mode, in case of disappearance of the external electrical signal of
transmission command, the user can use the standard acoustical commands ENABLE of
each of the Transponder channels to switch from the Responder mode to the
Transponder mode.
In case of external power supply failure, the nominal operation is insured by the internal
battery packs that relay the external power supply.
II.2.3.4
Pinger Mode
This mode is available on all the IXSEA acoustic releases and transponders. The type of
acoustic signal and the rate of transmission are configurable. The Pinger mode can be
activated
•
After a release operation for a short period of time (approximately 3 min)
•
By an acoustic command from the remote control unit without limit of time
The Pinger mode is automatically inhibited upon reception of the ENABLE command for
the Transponder or Responder mode.
