Auxiliary-device (pointing device) connector
Use this connector to connect a mouse or other pointing device. Figure 43 shows
an auxiliary-device connector.
Ethernet connectors
Figure 44 shows an Ethernet connector.
Connect a Category 3, 4, or 5 unshielded twisted-pair cable to this connector. The
100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T Fast Ethernet standards require Category 5 or
higher cabling.
Notes:
1. The server has three Ethernet connectors. Two of the Ethernet connectors are
attached to the Ethernet controllers. See the IBM xSeries 336 Type 8837 User’s
Guide on the IBM xSeries Documentation CD for more information about the
Ethernet controllers.
2. The third Ethernet connector is a dedicated connector that is active only when
you install an optional Remote Supervisor Adapter II SlimLine. This dedicated
connector is the Remote Supervisor Adapter II SlimLine Ethernet connector.
Keyboard connector
Use this connector to connect a PS/2 (non-USB) keyboard to the server. Figure 45
shows a keyboard connector.
If you attach a keyboard to this connector, USB ports and devices are disabled
during POST.
