lit,
indicating
that
the
power

is
operating
correctly.
The
two
green
LEDs
are

Removing
a
power
supply
To
replace
an
existing
power
supply,
you
must
remove
the
old
one.
Complete
the
following
steps
to
remove
a
hot-swap
power
supply:
1.
Read
Appendix
B,
“Safety
information,”
on
page
129
and
“Installation
guidelines”
on
page
15.
2.
Turn
off
the
server
and
peripheral
devices
(see
“Turning
off
the
server”
on
page
10);
then,
and
disconnect
all
power
cords
and
external
cables.
3.
If
the
server
is
in
a
rack,
at
the
back
of
the
server,
pull
back
the
cable
management
arm
to
get
access
to
the
rear
of
the
server
to
remove
the
power
supply.
4.
Remove
the
power
cord.
5.
From
the

instructions
in
“Installing
a
power

on
page
41
or
reinstall
the
blank
cover,
to
keep
the
server
from
overheating.
Using
Y
power-cord
connectors
for
power
backup
When
you
have
multiple
servers
with
redundant
power
supplies,
use
Y
power-cord
connectors
to
provide
the
proper
connection
to
the
backup
power-supply
(Back-UPS)
units.
The
Back-UPS
unit
provides
temporary
power
to
the
connected
devices
in
the
case
of
a
power
outage
in
the
network.
The
Back-UPS
unit
must
be
connected
correctly
to
ensure
optimum
power
backup
to
the
servers.
Connect
the
Y
power
cord
to
two
power
supplies,
in
two
different
servers,
then
connect
the
other
end
of
the
Y
power
cord
to
a
Back-UPS
unit.
Figure
35
on
page
43
shows
the
connection
between
the
servers
with
the
Y
power-cord.
