Using and installing software with the AutoPlay feature.
Most discs are “AutoPlay enabled”. If the AutoPlay
feature of Windows is enabled, it will automatically start
the installation program (or the first song of a music CD)
when you insert a disc in the drive. For more
information about AutoPlay, refer to the Microsoft
Windows help system.
Some programs install on your hard disk drive, but also
require a CD or DVD to be in the drive before the
program will start. If the program is already installed and
you insert the disc, the AutoPlay feature will start the
program automatically.
If your IBM computer has a DVD-ROM drive, the
AutoPlay feature will always start AutoPlay-enabled CDs
or DVDs. If there are no AutoPlay-enabled programs on
a DVD video disc, the AutoPlay feature will start the
DVD video.
Updating programs
IBM Update Connector program. You can use the IBM
Update Connector program to look for available updates
for the software that came from the factory with your
computer.
Norton AntiVirus program. If you have Norton Antivirus
installed, you can update the Norton AntiVirus program
using the Norton Live Update program. This program
will automatically apply available updates to the Norton
AntiVirus program.
Note
In some cases, the hard
disk drive in the model
you purchased may not be
large enough to complete
a full install of each
program. In these cases,
use the “partial install”
option if you want to
install all of the programs
to the same hard disk
drive.
