Resetting the drive
To reset an external drive, switch off at the power switch, wait 10 seconds and then
reapply power.
Termination
Termination is critical to the operation of the SCSI bus. Generally speaking,
termination should be applied to the last device on the SCSI chain and at the
beginning of the SCSI chain (usually the SCSI adapter). Intermediate devices should
have their termination disabled. If there are too many terminators or not enough
terminators, the devices may not appear or might intermittently disappear off the
SCSI bus. This may result in data corruption or failed backups.
HP Surestore tape drives have a SCSI terminator attached to the back of the drive. If
the tape drive is on the end of a SCSI cable then the terminator on the drive
terminates the SCSI bus. Check the drive documentation to ensure that this
terminator is attached.
SCSI Cables
It is important to use the highest quality cables to avoid data corruption and
read/write problems. Only use the SCSI cables supplied with the tape drive.
