Snapped tape
First check :
If there is more than one device, check which drive has a hardware problem.
Check if media has been used on another drive to confirm which drive was
used when tape snapped.
Check age, condition and type of the media.
Check the
environmental conditions
for the drive & the media.
Then do this :
Discard the old tape and restart the operation with a different tape.
Use new recommended media.
Correct environmental conditions and/or ensure tapes are allowed to adjust to
new environment before using.
Confirm which drive was used when tape snapped. Discard the old tape and
restart the operation with a different tape.
If this was not successful then call for
service
No response from drive
First check :
Check that the SCSI ID is not set to 7
Check correct
cable
is being used.
Check cabling.
Check SCSI bus is
terminated
properly.
Check that all the necessary drivers have been loaded on the appliance.
Check if the drive is faulty.
Make sure that the HP Surestore tape drive is the only item connected to the
HP AutoBackup via the SCSI cable.
Then do this :
Ensure power to the drive (check plugged in and switched on, change power
cable).
Power cycle
the drive.
If another drive is available to swap in, try this to confirm drive or power
problem.
Use the correct cable and secure it.
Terminate the SCSI bus correctly.
Reboot the system.
If this was not successful then call for
service
