Configuring a Management Station on different subnets

For a configuration with multiple subnets, the routes must be added to all intermediate hops in the network.

To minimize the impact on IP traffic and limit the possibility that unnecessary access will be given, a host

specific route can be used on all routes specified for the HP StorageWorks 400 Multi-Protocol Routers. This

will ensure that only IP traffic destined for the switch’s management addresses are routed to the HP

StorageWorks 400 Multi-Protocol Routers and all other IP traffic that may be destined for that subnet will

use a different path or get dropped if no other path is available. When adding routes to the management

station, a host specific route can be used, but are not necessary.
