3.4 Turning Off the Power
1. Confirm that the Equipment is stopped (See Section 3.3, “Stopping the Equipment”).
2. Unplug
the Equipment power cord plug from the outlet.
3. When the power supply is disconnected, the DRIVE/STBY (Drive Access/Standby)
lamp turns off.
3.5 Emergency Power-off
WARNING
In case of smoke or nasty smell, disconnect the power cord plug from the outlet
and contact your distributor or customer engineer. Using the faulty Equipment
without repair may lead to an electric shock or fire.
NOTICE

If an emergency power-off (abrupt disconnection of power cord plug from the
outlet or turning off of mains power breaker without shutting down the OS) is
done, reloading of certain system programs may be necessitated because
the journal information is lost. For this reason, never execute emergency
power-off except when power must be disconnected urgently because of
malfunction.

If power is disconnected at the source, the Equipment may not be recovered
automatically.
In a situation where the Equipment power has to be disconnected urgently or in the
following emergency cases, disconnect power at the source:

When the Equipment itself seems abnormal (e.g., when a nasty smell occurs);

When the Equipment cannot be stopped due to anomaly in the Equipment;

When the Equipment automatically shuts down and turns off the primary power to
remain on auxiliary power only, because the protecting mechanism has detected fan
stop or abnormal temperature.

Before the OS startup, the Equipment checks out for fan stop at setting up BIOS and,
if such status is detected, automatically turns off the primary power.

After the OS startup, the Equipment automatically shuts down the OS and turns off
the primary power.
