To recover from HDD failure in one side, follow the steps below.

1. Back up the data (see Section 8.1, “Backing Up Files”).

2. Terminate all the running application programs. Ensure that the HDD status lamp

corresponding to the target HDD is lit because of the HDD failure.

3. Double-click the Hardware Status icon in the task tray to open the “Hardware status”

window. Identify the failing HDD status shown in the window. The example below
shows that the HDD in drive bay 2 is failing.

4. Referring to Steps 2 through 4 of “(2) On D Model or A Model while the Equipment

power is off” in Subsection 5.4.3.2, “Detaching/attaching HDD,” loosen the two front
screws fixing the subject HDD case and then detach the HDD case from the Equipment.
