2.4.2 Equipment for DC Power Supply Unit
(1) -48 VDC/-60 VDC Power Cable
All power connection wiring should conform to the rules and regulations in the National
Electrical Code (NEC) as well as any local codes.
The diameter of a DC cable to be used differs depending on the type of a power supply.
Use the following rated cables (Given below is the abbreviated product name for each cable) for
POW-HSDCE (DC80001-U) and POW-MSDCE (DC160001-U). (For the detail specifications of
the cables to be used for each GS4000 model, see Table 2.4-5.)
POW-HSDCE (DC80001-U): ST 3 x 8AWG (product of Hitachi Cable, Ltd.)
POW-MSDCE (DC160001-U): ST 3 x 6AWG (product of Hitachi Cable, Ltd.)
The DC power cords should terminate with the cable terminals on the side of power supply
shelves.
The cable terminals used for POW-HSDCE (DC80001-U) and POW-MSDCE (DC160001-U) are
allowed to have only one hole and should meet the following specifications.

POW-HSDCE (DC80001-U): M5 terminal

rated -48VDC/21A or -60VDC/17A, UL
product. For its shape, see Figure 2.4-2.

Mfg. Co., Ltd.)

POW-MSDCE (DC160001-U): M6 terminal

rated -48VDC/42A or -60VD C/34A, UL
product. For its shape, see Figure 2.4-2.

Mfg. Co., Ltd.)
Consider the distance from a cable clamper to a terminal board when preparing the DC power
cable. The form of a terminal board on the power supply is shown in Figure 2.4-3.

THE 0V OR -48V/-60V CABLE TERMINAL. USING AN UNSHEATHED DC POWER
CABLE COULD CAUSE AN ELECTRIC SHOCK. WHEN ATTACHING AN
INSULATING SHEATH, MAKE SURE THAT THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE
CENTER OF THE HOLE OF A CABLE TERMINAL AND AN INSULATING SHEATH
IS 15MM (HALF THE WIDTH OF A TERMINAL BOARD OF POWER SUPPLY) OR
LESS, AND THAT THE UNCOVERED PART OF AN CABLE IS NOT PUT OUTSIDE
A TERMINAL BOARD OF POWER SUPPLY.
