High port-density PSU-integrated NIF are installed in the GS4000

The GS4000 power supply redundancy is of the type “2+1” when one or more high port-density
PSU-integrated NIFs are installed in the device. This means that GS4000 requires two active
power supply modules and one standby power supply module. For detailed information about
installation positions of power supply modules, see the table below.

NOTE: If only one power supply module is installed, high port-density PSU-integrated

NIFs will not become active even after the GS4000 is powered on.

NOTE: The type of power supply redundancy changes to “2+1” if a high port-density

PSU-integrated NIF is activated after being mounted in a running GS4000. More

than two power supply module should be installed in the GS4000 before any high

port-density PSU-integrated NIF is inserted in it.

NOTE: When the GS4000 is running with “2+1” power supply redundancy, and a high

port-density PSU-integrated NIF is pulled out from it whille the device is running,

the GS4000 will continue running in “2+1” redundancy mode. Therefore, it is not

necessary to detatch the POW2 power supply module from the GS4000 even if the

device already has three power supply modules installed.

However, if the GS4000 is rebooted before a high port-density PSU-integrated

NIF is re-installed into it, the power supply redundancy mode will be switched to

“1+1”. The POW2 power supply module needs to be detached from GS4000 if you

want to switch the from of power supply redundancy to “1+1”.
